Part 2

Q. What's holding our progress and what we need to do?

Ans. With reference to the discussions we had in class as well as outside class, here are a few points that talk about the reasons that's holding our progress.

1. We had a discussion about our blogs with the faculty on Tuesday who pointed out that after we write our blogs we don't re-read them from a reader's point of view. And that's because we are writing the blogs as we are supposed to and we just want to get done with it as soon as possible. We don't give in a lot of thought to what we're writing, we aren't focusing on enhancing the quality of what we write but instead we focus more on quantity and thus end up putting in even the smallest of details in our blogs which might not be much of relevance to the readers. And we aren't even trying to improve the quality of our blogs and make it engaging, we're just adamant on staying at the level we're already at . Hence, not having the will power to bring about change in our ways and to improve is hindering our progress.
When we're putting in our efforts into something why not put in best of our efforts and make it worth everyone's while. That would help us take a step forward towards progress.

2. We often don't think for ourselves. We follow in others' footsteps. Like on Monday's session when the class decided to go to the NescafĂ©, to meet up with the faculty, not all must have wanted to do so but some of us just came along because of the sheep mentality that we have.
Only when we stop following others blindly and start applying our own brain to reason out what we're doing, why we're doing it and do we really need to do it, we might have a chance at progressing.

3. I wasn't there at the Nescafé for most part of the conversation but from the part that I was there for, I could make out that our faculty was talking about a butterfly's lifecycle. He talked about how a butterfly even while trying to collect nectar carries pollen from one part of the plant to the other and help plants grow without even realising it. They thought don't know it themselves but they are doing some good in the world. But what about us, in the 18-20 years that we've been on this planet, we've just been taking from the world, when will we give, when will we do some good in the world?
What our problem is that we take everything for granted. We feel that whatever we're getting is our right. But until and unless we have a sense of gratitude towards those who we've been gaining something or the other from and unless we ourselves realize that we should be working towards being able to be of some help or some use to this world, are we really going to progress? I think not.

The animal my current life resembles with : Giant Panda

Reasons :
1. It seems like for all my life I've just been eating and sleeping just like Pandas do. They're lazy animals and so am I.
2. A lot of resources, energy and time has been spent on me but I haven't been able to do anything worth what was invested in me. A lot of money goes in maintenance of these big creatures, the giant pandas too.

The animal I'd want my life to resemble with : Dolphin

Reason:
Dolphins are one of the most altruistic animal species around, they have been known to help out others in need.
